The global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic will be remembered for years to come and so will the courage exhibited by frontline workers in the pharmacy profession. In an effort to commemorate this bravery and selflessness, the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) invites you to submit the details of your loved ones who were pharmacy professionals and lost their lives fighting in the front lines during the pandemic.
The names and photos of our fallen colleagues will form part of the digital South African COVID-19 Pharmacy Wall of Remembrance that the SAPC will be launching to honour all our colleagues who lost their lives due to COVID-19.
We encourage friends, parents, colleagues, and relatives of fallen pharmacy professionals (i.e., pharmacy students, pharmacy support personnel and pharmacists) to contact the SAPC and provide the following information:
- A copy of the identity document of the deceased
- A copy of the death certificate of the deceased (confirming COVID-19 as the cause of death);
- A digital ID photo of the deceased (if possible); and
- A signed letter of permission for inclusion on the Wall of Remembrance from the deceased’s next of kin.
The notification, comprising the abovementioned documents, should be sent to Heroes@sapc.za.org
The global pandemic presented uncharted waters for all healthcare professionals and for this reason the SAPC would like to use this digital platform to appreciate pharmacy professionals who served their communities and worked towards providing quality pharmaceutical service for all, despite the dangers that came with committing to the calling of Pharmacy in such a period.
