Legislation having an impact on Pharmacy and the practice environment is continuously updated in response to changing environmental and other factors. We endeavour to include all legislative amendments and new/proposed legislation and regulations in each issue of the e-Pharmaciae. This edition looks at the legislation published between March 2020 and November 2020.

What is new in legislation?

The following pharmacy legislation or legislation relating to pharmacy have been published for comment or implementation since March 2020:

  1. Regulations relating to the fees payable to Council, Board Notice 26 of 2020, published on 6 March 2020 for comment;
  2. Rules relating to services for which a pharmacist may levy a fee, Board Notice 27 of 2020, published on 6 March 2020 for implementation (view here);

The Minister of Health, on 12 June 2020 published for comment the following regulation amendments:

  1. Regulations relating to the registration of persons and the maintenance of registered: Amendment Regulations 2019, GNR 656, of 12 June 2020 (view here);
  2. Regulations relating to the practice of pharmacy: Amendment Regulations 2019, GNR 657, of 12 June 2020 (view here); and
  3. Regulations relating to pharmacy education and training: Amendment Regulations 2019, GNR 658, of June 2020 (view here).

    The Amendment Regulations were published for a three month comment period, and comments were directed to the Department of Health (DoH).
