Changes in Legislation
Legislation is continually changing and being updated. The South African Pharmacy Council endeavours to include all legislative changes and additions relating to the pharmacy industry in each edition of the ePharmaciae. This edition looks at the legislation published from October 2018 to July 2019.

What’s new in legislation?

The following pharmacy legislation or legislation relating to pharmacy have been published for implementation since October 2018:

  1. Fees payable to Council for 2019, Board Notice 170 of 2018, published on 2 November 2018 (view here);

  2. Code of Conduct for Office of Health Standards Compliance Inspectors, GNR 11, published on 18 January 2019 (Office Of Health Standards Compliance);

  3. Dispensing Fee for pharmacists, GNR 28 published on 23 January 2019 (In terms of the Medicines and Related Substances Act);

  4. Annual Single Exit Price Adjustment of Medicine for 2019, GNR 29 published on 23 January 2019 (In terms of the Medicines and Related Substances Act);

  5. Additional Fees payable to Council for 2019, Board Notice 41 of 2019;
    (This Board Notice relates to additional fees payable to Council, and should be read together with Board Notice 170 of 2018, published on 2 November 2018);

  6. The Good Pharmacy Education Standards (HET) amendments, Board Notice 32 of 2019, published on 15 March 2019 (view here);

  7. Rules relating to services for which a pharmacist may levy a fee, Board Notice 35 of 2019, published on 29 March 2019; and

  8. Regulations pertaining to Continuing Professional Development, GNR. 668 published on 17 May 2019 (view here).
